Why Choose Bristol Windows?

With so many windows to choose from in the Putnam County area, how should a discerning homeowner go about making the best decision? And what makes Bristol Replacement Windows the best choice?

Heart Land Construction: Helping Homeowners Make Smart Decisions

Heart Land Construction believes an informed decision is always the best. Bristol Windows have superior energy-efficiency ratings and superior warranties. Sure, everyone claims to have the "best" windows. But numbers do not lie. Bottom line is, our windows have some of the best thermal numbers in the industry. And although they are not cheap, they are affordable for the average homeowner. After doing the math, you'll discover superior value as well.

Things to Consider When Purchasing Windows

There are several important things to consider when buying windows, such as:

1. Energy Efficiency
2. Warranty
3. Cost

Energy Efficient Windows: Dare to Compare

Ever since the government started enticing homeowners with tax credits for energy saving home remodeling projects, many window companies have jumped on the energy savings bandwagon. But Winchester Industries, the manufacturer of Bristol Replacement Windows and Doors, has been making energy efficient windows since 1983... long before energy efficiency was cool. Today, Bristol products have some of the best thermal numbers in the industry.

Nevertheless, some homeowners only concern themselves with the initial price tag of a window. This is especially true during a down economy. For example, one popular window manufacturer sells their windows starting at $189 installed. Everything else being equal, that seems like quite a bargain.

However, everything else is not equal, even though this company claims that their windows are "energy efficient."

Remember that the term "energy efficient" is relative. There is a substantial difference in energy ratings between the best energy efficient windows and cheap windows that sell for $189.

Beware Of Misleading Claims

That $189 window is extremely energy deficient when compared to some of the better energy saving windows available. But don't take my word for it. Go to the NFRC (National Fenestration Rating Council) website. The NFRC is a non-profit organization that administers the only uniform, independent rating and labeling system for the energy performance of windows. The exact energy efficiency of all Energy Star windows have been accurately measured and officially certified. This can be checked out at their website. Here’s what you’ll discover:

The lower the U-factor, the more energy-efficient a window is. Notice that all 3 windows have a U-factor of .30. In order to receive an energy tax credit and receive the Energy Star label, a window must have a U-Factor equal to or less than 0.30 and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) equal to or less than 0.30. That $189 window barely meets the minimal standard.

Now check out the U-factors of Bristol Windows:

Notice U-factors of .20 and .19, which is much better than the vast majority of windows. This means substantial savings in energy costs.

What About Andersen, Marvin, and Pella?

Perhaps price is not the first thing you look for when picking a window. Perhaps you already know that good things are usually not cheap and cheap things are usually not good. Perhaps you've done a little research and have seen windows like Andersen, Marvin, and Pella get high ratings on several top ten lists. Perhaps you think it is impossible for any window to beat these three window titans.

Think again.

Obviously, these companies make fine windows or they would not be ranked as high as they are. However, these companies were making windows long before energy efficiency was a major consideration.

How Energy Efficient Are Andersen Renewal Windows?

For example, Andersen doesn't even make a triple-pane window. Andersen's best window is the Renewal Series. And how energy-efficient is their most energy-efficient Renewal Double-Hung Windows?*

Again, barely under the gun.

How Energy Efficient Are Marvin Windows?

And how energy-efficient are Marvin's Double-Hung Windows?

After going to the NFRC website and checking hundreds of their windows, though many of Marvin's windows are very energy-deficient, and although many of their windows barely qualify for a tax credit, they do have a few windows that are approximately as energy-efficient as the Bristol Windows that Heart Land sells. So why choose Heart Land's Bristol Windows over Marvin Windows? Superior Frames, Better Warranties, and a Better Locking System.

How Energy Efficient Are Pella Windows?

Finally, how energy-efficient are Pella's most energy-efficient Double-Hung Windows?*

Like Marvin, Pella has hundreds of energy deficient windows, a few that barely make the grade, and a few that are fairly energy efficient. These three windows were the three most energy efficient Pella Double-Hung Windows as of this posting:

A U-factor of .23 is pretty good, but it is not quite a .20 or .19 like Bristol. But again, when comparing Frames, Warranties, and Locking Systems, Bristol is a better choice.

How Long Does The Window Last?

Not only are Bristol Windows incredibly energy efficient, they are built to last. They come with a written Fifty Year Transferable Warranty. Sure, other companies offer so-called lifetime warranties. But that usually only refers to the lifetime of the product, not the lifetime of the homeowner.

Consider The Real Cost

The real cost of a window is determined by more than the initial price tag. Granted, a company that sells windows for $189 has a much better initial price tag. But the real cost of a Bristol Window is significantly better. Here's why:

When considering what you can save with a Bristol window verses a cheap window, and then factoring in that Bristol Windows last many times longer, it will usually cost a homeowner considerably more to buy a cheaper window.

Heart Land's Guarantee of Assurance

Heart Land backs their claims with a written guarantee of assurance:

If within 30 days of your signed contract date and prior to installation you find any replacement window that has All the Bristol features at a lower price, we will refund you the difference, plus an additional $100 for your inconvenience.
